History of Arcos

Since 1734, a cutlery tradition in Albacete and three centuries of innovation to bring the highest quality to kitchens around the world.

Since 1734

A legacy of nearly three centuries

The first piece that marks the beginning of the ARCOS company in 1734 is a pair of branded scissors, created by Juan de Arcos, which are currently housed in the Albacete Cutlery Museum. This relic was donated by the owners of Arcos Hermanos. In addition, the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid exhibits several pieces marked “Arcos-Albacete,” made by Juan de Arcos in 1745 and 1746.

In 1875, Gregorio Arcos Aroca transformed his small artisan workshop—where he made pocketknives, scissors, and daggers—into a factory for the serial production of knives. A century later, Gregorio Arcos Villanueva began the company’s international expansion. This family business is proud of its notable recognition and growth.
